Cesky Krumlov

We head to Cesky Krumlov, about 2 hours south of Prague towards Austria. We arrive and the GPS is telling us to drive down a cobblestone road across a very small bridge through an even smaller archway. This very much looked like a pedestrian area so we stopped and started backing up, then another car came up behind us and started getting angry so we just stop and put our hazard lights on. When in Europe sometimes you need to think like a European. So we reassessed and looked at the map again and it looked right and the car before had headed down this road, so away we went. We drove in and then missed a turn so had to do a U turn in front of a cathedral with tour groups everywhere. After driving down a one way street the wrong way we found the car park.

Our hotel in Cesky Krumlov is the Hotel Grand right on the main square in town. There is a large Christmas tree here and some left over remnants of a Christmas market. The hotel is old but fantastic and our room looks out over the square. The girls have their own beds and the beds are really nice. Breakfast in the morning is amazing, it is a full buffet including hot food, pastries, waffles and even crepes. So the girls definitely gave it the thumbs up.

Hotel Grand

We spend only one night in Cesky Krumlov as that is all you need. It is a very special place full of picturesque views from every turn. From the Castle up on the hill overlooking the town there are fantastic views, and there are narrow cobblestone streets everywhere. We even found a man who works with leather to put an extra hole in Ella’s belt, sorry but the only picture I got of the leather man is blurry! Cesky is very touristy and on a lot of people’s radars, especially from Asia it seems. Still it was well worth visiting and should be on everyone’s list if coming to the Czech Republic. The next day we head for Vienna.
